About Turner
Who we are and what we do
Turner Media Innovations is the advertising and media consultancy part of Turner Broadcasting. Covering EMEA territories, we create opportunities for brands across the whole Turner media network, from Cartoonito and Cartoon Network to Turner Classic Movies and Adult Swim.
But we don't stop there: our network extends to partnerships with retailers and publishers like IPC and Warner Brothers; we offer licensing and merchandising opportunities through our Licensing and Merchandising division; and we embrace the full range of online and offline media - including e-TV, iTV, microsites, mobile telecoms, and advertiser-funded programming.
Based at Turner Broadcasting's HQ in London's West End, we offer unique access to this fully integrated, multiplatform network and to the rest of the company - bringing great flexibility and depth of expertise to your campaign. We're a big media owner, but with a start-up's entrepreneurial attitude and agility. And we believe in working closely with clients to exceed expectations and break new ground. That's why we've got a great track record for effectiveness and innovation; and it's why we put our insights (particularly in kids marketing) and our in-house creative and production teams at the disposal of any campaign, using any media.
The story so far
Our story goes back 40 years - when Robert Edward Turner bought a small Atlanta radio station and began to turn the company around. A decade later, 'Ted' Turner's media network had grown to include not just radio stations and TV stations, but broadcast rights for movies and sporting events, as well as the outdoor advertising firm he started with. And in 1980 Turner defied a baffled industry to launch a visionary new project - the world's first rolling news channel, CNN.
Over the years that followed, the successful media maverick became an international icon, famed as a philanthropist, sportsman and tireless business innovator; and Turner Broadcasting, later acquired by Time Warner, became one of the world's biggest media brands. Turner launched in the UK in 1993 with satellite broadcasting of TNT Classic Movies (now TCM) and Cartoon Network Europe. The company now employs over 700 staff, and the network has grown too - adding pre-schoolers channel Cartoonito, teen channel Boomerang, cult platform [adult swim], and sister channels Cartoon Network Too and TCM2 to the original line-up.
Growing out of the advertising divisions of individual channels like Cartoon Network, Turner Media Innovations was launched in 2007. Designed to offer a one-stop shop to advertisers - putting the emphasis on service rather than sales - the new company brought on board specialists in digital, programming, research and new business. Since then, it has built a strong reputation for delivering new levels of engagement, and effective targeting and integration - with groundbreaking campaigns like the Nurdle Shmurdle for Aquafresh winning Gold at 2008's Mediaweek awards.
